- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually add milk and heavy cream, stirring to combine.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks. Slowly pour in a small amount of the hot mixture while whisking.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and continue cooking until it thickens further.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and butter.
- Pour into serving dishes and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
